Given that Foxton and Otaki are racing venues, who could justify investing in returning racing to Levin apart from a handful of locals (and I do mean a handful!). As training facility, that's completely up to the members.

To respond to Jaxon's point yesterday, these decisions were made almost thirty years ago!! You can't turn the clock back although I suspect that some here have watches that do go counter clockwise!

Well be that as it may you still said:

“However, as I repeatedly pointed out, who would want to see racing and training at Otaki, Foxton and Levin apart from a few luddites”?

I’m totally offended by being called a “Luddite” because I would like to see all those clubs prosper.

I would suggest that you and one or two others have spent too much time with “Fuzzy Logic”.

For those that don’t have a clue what I’m talking about, basic logic is binary and it’s yes or no, 1 or 0. Fuzzy logic allows you to be a little bit pregnant. It ain’t called fuzzy for nothing. ;-)

Having said that, there are some uses for it, but none in Racing that I can think of, despite others thinking otherwise. :D

So I’m sorry Dazzer, but whilst you’ve been deciding whether you’ll run with the hares or hunt with the hounds, I’ve relieved all the Procrastinators and Hand Wringers of their problems and sold the outfit. :D

the more things change, the more they stay the same as far as NZ goes JAXON...it was 'sold' decades ago.The future for NZ!- primarily a tourist destination,(like FIJI)especially as the Sth pacific peso devalues.Migration by the very people(young, skilled)NZ needs to sustain the aging population, and those reliant on social welfare, will accelerate. The repercussions do not bode well for the future. It will remain a great place to live if you're wealthy and continue to be a haven for corporate crooks. :(

Nailed it again.

Our precious friend DAZZER has never quite been able to work out who he is hunting with and that is why he hasn't been able to come up with a conclusive "plan".

I guess to be a PRESIDENT these days you've got to learn to please everyone.

We are a haven for "corporate crooks" COSMO .. no doubt about that.

We have almost drawn up laws to protect them to the point of giving some the Queens Medal or even some putty medal Knighthood for ripping off the peasants.

The WINE BOX a classic.

And yes JAXON .. pissing in an OLD BOYS "tent" is the current 'state of play'.

I find it amusing how Dazzer is accused of being an OBC advocate, yet he has just explained how the constition has ensured the members control the fate of their club. I must admit, I am getting confused, are you saying that not even the members of the club should control its fate. Have you spoken to the members of Dazzers club, and with such a strong opinion on its future I assume you are members yourselves. Why is there such a focussed attack on Dazzer when all he is trying to do is represent his club, and in the best interests of his club.

Another concern I have with the industry is the number of people pissing in tents and the number pissing out of or on them.

Clearly some "Toilet Training" and "Ablution Facilities" are required urgently. :preach:

Thanks Pinwhore. Just to clarify that point, the current constitution does NOT explicitly prevent the committee from selling the track which is why I added a clause to the new constitution similar to the Waikato RC preventing any sale over x% of the assets of the club based on the most recent balance sheet. While the rewritten constitution is not yet in place, we have adopted that clause to ensure transparency and take fear emotion out of the wider debate. Unlike some, I prefer to let my actions talk and again compare that with the accusations made in recent posts. They line of attack is a complete fabrication but at least they are consistent with their approach! If you track through OBC's posts in particular over recent weeks you will see repeatedly a lack of understanding, a lack of knowledge of basic facts, hysterical rants when challenged, and posts that cross the line to defamation (excluding the known lies about me). Hardly a ringing endorsement is it?

No lies and no defamatory statements DAZZER .. just your precious interpretation of them.

The thing that amuses me about you is that you represent a club that is prime for the CENTRALISING "gang" and even though you are putting in place measures to hopefully offset their "slash & burn" prospects you aren't willing to focus on the real problem at hand.

That is .. those who are forcing you to take those measures .. and the system that allows such attacks on community assets to prosper in the first place.

I compare it a little bit to a rabbit problem on the farm. Rather than fence them off .. shoot the "bastids'' I say.

Prevent is better than cure.

While basking in the sun and looking at the positive side of other industry "models" .. including that of the tourist "trade" ..

.. I came across an example where 2 district COUNCILS had tried to merge but where their people and communities had little in common.

Again, I guess it was a case of the CORPORATE power mongers trying to argue "economies of scale" and "administrative savings" to support that move, which in the case presented to me, failed.

Fortunately.

As one very successful tourist operator told me .. they would rather pay a little extra in rates and be in control of their destiny rather than have a bunch of outsider CORPORATE ladder climbers with no affinity or heart wrecking the harmony and vision of the local people who have done extremely well in the past without them.

Good on them.
